I never properly considered the gas station food options until 1) I took my son to Iceland, where eating in the gas station is one of the best values going, and 2) I road-tripped with you.

It was our Not Chicago trip where I learned the Amana stop was no longer the goat.

Fun post! No mention of Casey’s breakfast pizza?

Given a choice at Casey’s for breakfast, I’d take a cake donut with white frosting. Never glazed.

My go to road trip snack is combos- cheddar and pretzels. You get the cheese without the messy fingers. As to roller dogs and salad sandwiches of any variety, I’ll leave that to the more adventurous. 🤣

Combos are for-sure the wise choice. I would expect no less from you, Ms. Stone.

Do you remember Stuckey's gas stations? They used to sell t-shirts that said, "Stuckey's. Eat here and get gas."

What fancy gas station are you in that has such a outlandish display of goods? Gas station shirts should be five bucks. I have a hard time breaking away from the savory classics such as Combos and nacho flavored Slim Jim's. I know they are killing me from the inside, but I don't take road trips that often.

This highly styled photo shoot was a brand-new gas station on Highway 20 on the way to northwest Iowa (Spencer; my brother's basement was flooded). It's almost worth the mystery camera speeding tickets on that same road.
