One of the reasons Oma and I loved hatching our plan for this weekly postcard is our shared love of travel. We both like hitting the road, in different modes and for different reasons, and we like sharing our itineraries with friends, of which you are one now. So look for more travel recommendations from us in 2024.
We are currently away from the Analog Mix offices for some work and some pleasure in New York City. As such, today’s entry is short, but hopefully useful to you.
Sometimes it can be hard to plan an itinerary in a major city. I like to plan those trips around a theme, or at a major activity. In NYC, I tend to plan in loops. A theater loop on one day, a food loop on another, a thrift and vintage loop. You get the idea.
I’d call the below the Little Bit of Everything loop. It was suggested to me by a friend who often hosts family and friends in the city. It’s a crowdpleaser and easily inserted into a free morning or afternoon. You can bookend with a walk on the High Line to the north, or a further stroll south to Union Square or Washington Square parks. All of it a pleasure.
Stop 1: Whitney Museum of American Art
Stop 2: Fancy lunch at Pastis
Stop 3: Housing Works Thrift - Chelsea
Stop 4: Cross the street to Gramercy Typewriter Company
I’ve left you links to all. I suggest buying tickets and making reservations in advance, so you don’t have to slow your roll by waiting anywhere.
Enjoy! as we are maybe enjoying this very itinerary right now! The important part is taking time away from the screen when real life is the main thing.
Happy almost-weekend!
